Larry Blackerby returned to Indiana as vice president and general manager of WRTV in January 2011.
With more than 35 years of broadcast experience, he brings a distinguished career of innovative and outstanding performances in news development, station operations and the development of award-winning local programming.
Most recently, Larry was at KPRC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Houston, Texas, where he had been vice president and general manager since 2006. With a commitment to the community, Larry served on several boards while in Houston, including Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Houston, The Quality of Life Committee for the Greater Houston Partnership, the NBC Affiliates Board and the board of the Houston Food Bank.
Prior to joining KPRC, Larry was vice president and general manager of WJXT-TV, Post-Newsweek's station in Jacksonville, Fla., a position he held since 2003. Prior to that he served as vice president and general manager of KMIR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Palm Springs, Calif., where he led the station in expanding its local news programming. During his tenure as general manager of WJTV, the CBS affiliate in Jackson, Miss., Larry and his team rebuilt the struggling station and took it to the No. 1 position in the market.
From 1987 to 1995, Larry worked at WGHP-TV, the ABC affiliate in Greensboro, N.C., as vice president of broadcasting. His prior experience includes program director at KOLR-TV in Springfield, Mo., and program and operations manager at WBAK-TV in Terre Haute.
Larry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, Television and Film from Indiana State University.
He and his wife, Brenda, have been married for more than 33 years and are proud parents to their daughter, Hillary.
