Indiana is home.
When Rafael arrived at Franklin College, Rafael quickly learned that one should not bother hunting for "snipe," that Football on Fridays, and Basketball everyday are king, and that any directions that end with " it's just down the road" required a vehicle.
At Franklin College, he completed his Bachelors degree with a triple major in Journalism, Political Science, and Spanish in four years, and learned to drive after depending on mass transit as a kid born in the Bronx, New York. Yes, I'm a Yankees Fan.
Rafael joined RTV6 in 1998 as a consumer investigative reporter. He's focused on rooting out scams, cutting through red tape to get results, and exposing con artists. Currently, he's also among the team of moderators for station's Sunday political program "Indianapolis This Week," and he's a fill-in anchor when needed.
Over the years, he has received a number of Emmy nominations and other awards for excellence in consumer and investigative reporting from the Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists.
He's also received recognition for his civic involvement throughout Central Indiana from the Indiana Black Expo, the Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, and the Mozel Sanders Foundation.
Rafael is proud member of the Franklin College Board of Trustees, and enjoys participating in many charitable events throughout the year. In the past, he has been a participant in a couple Latin ballroom competitions ala "Dancing With the Stars" to benefit worthy causes.
His wife is a native Hoosier who teaches kindergarten. They have two children who make life a joy.
