Dust off your looking glass and get ready to focus on author Lewis Caroll's classic story "Alice in Wonderland" through the eyes of visionary filmmaker Tim Burton.

Burton's reimagined version of "Alice in Wonderland," starring his frequent collaborator Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, is almost ready for its debut in theaters.

Based on the Caroll classics "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (1865) and "Through the Looking Glass" (1871), Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" stars Mia Wasikowska as the title character at age 19, who returns to the fantastical place she first encountered as a young girl. There, Alice again encounters her childhood friends -- including the White Rabbit (voice of Michael Sheen), Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Matt Lucas), the Dormouse (Barbara Windsor), the Caterpillar (Alan Rickman), the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry) and the Mad Hatter -- and embarks on a quest to defeat the reign of terror brought about by the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).

Walt Disney Studios is celebrating the pending release of the film with "The Ultimate Fan Event" Friday in Los Angeles, where Burton and several cast members will be on-hand, as well as select artists from the film's soundtrack.

The film will debut at a special royal premiere in London Feb. 25, in an event to benefit The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts. The cast and crew will be attending the event, in addition to the prince of Wales and the duchess of Cornwall.

"Alice in Wonderland," which also stars Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts and Paul Whitehouse as the March Hare, opens theaters March 5, and will play in digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D in select locations.
