FRANKFORT, Ind. -- Horses get a second chance at life thanks to the efforts of the Indiana Horse Rescue, whose caregivers are as gallant as the animals.Tony and Kathryn Caldwell started the organization 10 years ago. It has grown to have four locations across Indiana, caring for 250 animals, most of whom are put up for adoption. The horses are donated directly to rescue or from law enforcement or humane societies that call for help.
"When they get into large animals, they have a problem. They can call us and we'll step in," said Tony Caldwell.Indiana Horse Rescue relies on the donation of money and time from volunteers, Purdue University students and at-risk kids who learn about unconditional love."We teach the kids what happens to them because some of them can't be saved when they come to us," Kathryn Caldwell said. "We let them pass the way God would want them to, with no torture, no hate. We love them."More Info: Indiana Horse RescueFind out how you can nominate someone for the RTV6 Leadership Award.
