BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A new Bureau of Motor Vehicles computer glitch is causing headaches for about 600 Hoosiers caught up in the problem.Hundreds of people might have suspended licenses even though they responded before a deadline to pay tickets, Call 6's Rafael Sanchez reported.

Shirley Robinson's BMV experience almost cost her a part-time job at a Bloomington day-care center.Robinson was hired to drive kindergartners from the center to their elementary school, but that ended when the BMV accidentally suspended her license."The BMV needs to get it together," Robinson said. "Luckily, they found something else for me to do. Otherwise, I would not be here making money for Christmas."In November, the bureau mailed out a letter warning Robinson to pay up on a seat belt ticket or it would suspend her license.Robinson went to the Monroe County courthouse before the deadline, filled out all the paperwork and paid the ticket and late fee, but she still lost her license.About 600 people have had that or similar problems between the last week of November and the first week of December because of a technical glitch that stemmed from a newly installed computer system that caused registration problems over the summer."No excuses. We had a computer system conversion … and the system is a long way from where it was then," said BMV representative Greg Cook. "We want to make it to where the system is absolutely error-free."The BMV said it fixed the computer glitch and had the suspended licenses issue resolved on Wednesday.
