INDIANAPOLIS -- It seems like the price of gas keeps going up and up, but with summer driving season upon us, there are some incentives and online programs everyone should know about. Can You Spare A Dime?Starting June 1, Meijer is cutting prices at the pump 10 cents a gallon for Meijer credit card users. The deal will run thru Labor Day at all Meijer gas stations. Anyone can apply for a Meijer consumer credit card at any Meijer store or on Meijer's web site.
Calculate Your Cost Want to figure out mileage on the Internet? AAA has a budget calculator which shows how much gas money needed to to take on that summer vacation, depending on where you're headed. The web site FuelCostCalculator.com figures out mileage based on a destination, average prices in the area, and the make and model of the car used.$2.99 Guarantee?Seen the new commerical from Chrysler? The car manufacturer is offering something called the "$2.99 guarantee." They'll pay the extra costs for gas above that $2.99 per gallon mark for the first three years a consumer owns a new car purchased from them. But how does it really work? When someone buys one of the eligible vehicles included in the deal, they sign up to get a special card which then links to a VISA or MasterCard account. A consumer has to use the card at a participating station. Chrysler claims 97 percent of gas stations nationwide are participating. The credit card won't be billed over the $2.99 per gallon mark. There is also a limit to the number of gallons that can be put on the card, which Chrysler said works out to about 12,000 miles a year. The three-year offer is good through July 2011.
