Wedding Planner Charged With Theft

INDIANAPOLIS -- A wedding planner accused of not providing services for which he was paid was arrested Tuesday on 15 counts of theft and a charge of corrupt business influence, Call 6 for Help's Rafael Sanchez reported.Court records allege that James "Von" Belk owes more than $27,000 to customers.Call 6 reported in June that several brides-to-be accused him of accepting money but not providing services or products such as wedding gowns and flowers. After the report, authorities began investigating Belk.
Last week, Belk told Call 6 that he was in debt to his vendors by as much as $450,000."I just got in way over my head and didn’t even realize it," Belk told Call 6 last week.Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi said his office will seek restitution for the customers.If Belk is convicted of all charges, he could face more than 50 years in jail. He was being held Tuesday with bond set at $50,000.
