NCAA Game Summary - Appalachian State At Arkansas

(Sports Network) - Marshawn Powell turned in a game-high 29 points, as the Arkansas Razorbacks outlasted the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 81-72, in overtime of a non-conference clash at Bud Walton Arena.

Powell hit on 13-of-20 shots from the floor and collected seven boards for the Razorbacks (2-1). Rotnei Clarke posted 16 points, while Mike Washington registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Jemal Farmer rounded out the double-digit scorers, with 12 points.

Donald Sims guided ASU (2-2) in the loss with 17 points on the strength of 5- of-9 three-pointers. Kellen Brand added 13 points, and Josh Hunter had a double-double of 11 points and 11 boards in the loss.

Arkansas shot a sizzling 59.1 percent from the floor over the first 20 minutes of play and carried a 38-23 lead to the break.

ASU fought back from a 20-point deficit in the second half and sent the game into overtime on a three-pointer by Josh Hunter with 5.6 seconds remaining.

The Mountaineers, however, made just 1-of-7 field goals in the overtime and the Razorbacks went 3-of-6 from the floor and 6-of-6 at the foul line en route to the nine-point victory.

Arkansas made good on 23-of-34 free-throw attempts on the night, meanwhile, ASU hit just 10-of-17 shots from the stripe.
