Monroe, LA -- (Sports Network) - Malcolm Thomas tallied 18 points with six rebounds to lead the UL-Monroe Warhawks to a narrow, 64-63, victory over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in an Sun Belt Conference tussle at the Fant- Ewing Coliseum. Lawrence Gilbert posted 12 points for the Warhawks (10-19, 6-12 SBC), who snapped their four-game losing skid. Kenneth Averette and Dynile Forbes each contributed with 11 points in the win. Donald Boone led the Red Wolves (13-16, 5-13) with 18 points. Daniel Bryant shot 5-of-10 from three-point range and finished with 15 points, while Eric McKinney added 11 points and eight boards in a losing effort. The Warhawks shot 47.1 percent from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 33-32 lead. In the final 20 minutes, the Warhawks shot 50 percent from the field and made 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Trailing 63-60, Forbes converted on four free-throw attempts with less than 30 seconds remaining for the one-point victory. The Red Wolves finished the game making 6-of-16 shots from three-point range.
