POSTED: 9:10 pm EDT April 2, 2009

(Sports Network) - Butler University has rewarded men's basketball coach Brad Stevens with a contract extension, keeping him at the school through the 2015-16 season.

In just two seasons at Butler, Stevens has compiled a 56-10 overall record and a 31-5 mark in the Horizon League. He was the conference's 2009 coach of the year after guiding the Bulldogs to their third consecutive regular season title and a 26-6 overall mark.

The Bulldogs made the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season, losing to LSU in the first round this year.

Butler posted a school- and league-record 30-4 mark in Stevens' first season with the Bulldogs. That included a school-record 16 victories in conference play. Stevens also became just the sixth first-year head coach and the third- youngest coach (at 31) in NCAA Division I history to notch 30 wins.
