NCAA Game Summary - Evansville Vs. Illinois State

St. Louis, MO -- (Sports Network) - Champ Oguchi's 20 points guided the third- seeded Illinois State Redbirds over the sixth-seeded Evansville Purple Aces, 78-68, in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Oguchi connected on 7-of-14 shots from the floor and grabbed five boards, as the Redbirds (23-8) move on the semifinals against second-seeded Creighton on Saturday. Lloyd Phillips made 4-of-7 long-range buckets for 16 points, and Osiris Eldridge posted 14 points and six boards in the triumph. Shy Ely led the Aces (17-13) and everyone in scoring, pouring in 29 points on 11-of-22 field goals. Kaylon Williams added 16 points and five helpers to the mix, while Jason Holsinger chipped in with 10 points. The Redbirds jumped out to a 16-6 lead and they would carry a 35-30 lead to the intermission. In the second half, ISU shot a scorching 62.5 percent from the floor and it notched the 10-point victory. The Redbirds went 9-of-22 from beyond the arc on the night, while the Aces made just 3-of-10 buckets from the same distance.
