Ann Arbor, MI -- (Sports Network) - Jon Avery scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds to pace IUPUI to a 65-51 win over Michigan Tech in the regional round consolation game of the 2K Sports Classic. Alex Young added 15 points and Leroy Nobles ended with 11 points and seven rebounds for the Jaguars (1-1), who bounced back from a season-opening 73-60 loss to Northeastern on Tuesday. Robby Springborn had 11 points and Fedrick Bowe added 10 for Michigan Tech (0-2), who lost 77-55 to Michigan on Tuesday. Springborn shot 1-of-11 from the field, including 1-of-10 from three-point range. The Division II Huskies were 5-of-30 from beyond the arc and finished at 25.8 percent from the field, while IUPUI was at 50 percent shooting. IUPUI took control with an early 18-5 run, but the Jaguars' lead stood only at 33-28 at the half. A pair of free throws by Nobles opened the margin to 52-37 with 12 minutes remaining and the Huskies didn't threaten down the stretch.
