NCAA Game Summary - Tennessee-Martin At Southern Illinois

Carbondale, IL -- (Sports Network) - Carlton Fay scored 18 points to lead the Southern Illinois Salukis to a 91-63 victory over the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks in a non-conference battle at SIU Arena. Kevin Dillard added 14 points for SIU (1-0), while Kendal Brown-Surles contributed 12 points. Anthony Booker and Tony Freeman both tallied 10 points apiece in the win. Reuben Clayton netted 16 points for UT-Martin (0-1), while Benzor Simmons chipped in 14 points in the losing effort. The Salukis opened contest with a 14-4 run and shot 50.0 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes of play to take a commanding, 43-25 lead into the break. SIU held the Skyhawks to a mere 32.3 percent shooting effort in the second stanza, en route to the 28-point win. The Salukis connected on 12-of-25 attempts from behind the arc in the contest, while UT-Martin made just 3-of-16 shots from long range.
