The last time ASU was on the field the team snapped a three-game losing skid with a solid 28-14 victory over Florida Atlantic. It was the fifth victory of the season for the Red Wolves, who are now 3-2 in Sun Belt action. Arkansas State has struggled tremendously on the road this season, posting a 1-4 mark away from home. As for the Mean Green, it has been a dreadful year, as the team has dropped 10 of its 11 matchups. North Texas has dropped its last two matchups, including an embarrassing, 52-13 setback to Middle Tennessee. North Texas comes into this game winless at home in four games, and winless in six conference matchups. With respect to the all-time series between the two schools on the gridiron the Red Wolves have won the last three matchups against North Texas, and now hold a slim 9-8 edge over the Mean Green. Fortunately the Red Wolves have been able to forced 21 turnovers on the season, and have also pressured the quarterback, racking up 25 sacks. In the win over FAU the Red Wolves did a tremendous job, holding the Owls to just 259 total yards, including just 63 rushing yards on 2.7 ypc. The Mean Green's terrible season can be attributed to the poor play offensively, as the team is averaging just 366.3 total ypg, and just 19.3 ppg. Cam Montgomery has been the main option out of the backfield for North Texas, as the tailback is pacing the team with 807 yards and seven scores. The passing attack has been mediocre at best, as Giovanni Vizza has thrown for 2,550 yards and 14 scores, but has also tossed 13 interceptions. Casey Fitzgerald has been the main target for Vizza, and heads into this game with 100 receptions, 1,020 yards and six touchdowns. The defense has also been unable to make big play, forcing just 15 turnovers, while collecting only eight sacks. In the horrendous loss to Middle Tennessee the defensive woes for North Texas continued, as the Mean Green surrendered 237 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. North Texas forced three turnovers in the loss and was led by Kylie Hill, who recorded a team- best eight tackles. The Mean Green have been dreadful defensively, and there is no reason to believe the team will change its ways now. Expect Arkansas State to score early and often en route to an easy victory.
