Brown Gives Head Football Coach Contract Extension

Providence, RI -- Brown University announced Monday that it
gave head football coach Phil Estes a multi-year contract extension.Estes, who has spent the last six seasons as Bears' head coach, has a winning
percentage .610 during his Brown tenure. He is the most successful coach at
the school since Edward North Robinson, who completed his 24-year coaching
career in 1925 with a .624 winning clip. Overall, Estes is 36-23 at Brown, including a 26-16 mark in the Ivy League. He
won the Ivy League championship in 1999 and became just the second coach in
school history to win the crown. During his time with the Bears, Estes has coached four Walter Payton Award
finalists - wide receivers Sean Morey, Stephen Campbell and Chas Gessner and
quarterback James Perry. Estes became the fastest coach in Ivy League history to have his team score at
least 1,000 points when the club scored 1,022 in Estes' first 32 games as head
coach.
