NCAA Game Summary - Colorado State At Air Force

(Sports Network) - Asher Clark ran for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns to pace the Air Force Falcons in a 38-17 triumph of the Colorado State Rams in Mountain West Conference action at Falcon Stadium.

Tim Jefferson hit on 6-of-8 pass attempts for 171 yards and two touchdowns and he also had 22 rushing yards for Air Force (8-2, 5-1 MWC), which notched its fifth consecutive victory. Kyle Halderman caught two of those passes for 99 yards and a score in the win.

Gartrell Johnson headed the charge for CSU (4-5, 2-4) with 81 yards and a score on 19 carries. Billy Farris threw for 251 yards and a touchdown on 19- of-36 pass attempts, but he was picked off twice. Rashaun Greer was his main target with seven catches for 145 yards, while Dion Morton had five receptions for 42 yards and a score.

CSU kicked off the scoring with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Johnson just over five minutes into the game.

Air Force responded with a four-yard touchdown run by Kyle Lumpkin and a 41- yard scamper for a score by Clark for 14-7 lead after one period of play.

The Rams knotted the score with a four-yard scoring strike from Farris to Morton early in the second quarter.

The Falcons responded on their ensuing possession, as Halderman pulled in a 74-yard touchdown pass from Jefferson.

CSU made it a 21-17 game on a Jason Smith 23-yard field goal just before the break.

Clark scurried 45 yards for a score just over six minutes into the second half and Jefferson followed with a four-yard touchdown pass to Travis Dekker moments later, and Air Force carried a 35-17 lead to the final period.

Travis Dekker hit a 27-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter and Air Force would cruise tot he 38-17 victory.

The Falcons managed 455 yards of total offense, with 284 of those yards coming via the run.

Gartrell Johnson was nearly unstoppable while galloping for 285 rushing yards in addition to gaining 90 yards on five receptions, as the running back's second touchdown run, a 77-yard jaunt, late in the fourth quarter sealed Colorado State's 40-35 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs in the third annual New Mexico Bowl.
