Report: UConn RB Dixon Suspended Indefinitely

POSTED: 3:33 pm EST December 2, 2008

(Sports Network) - University of Connecticut running back Andre Dixon has reportedly been suspended from the team following a drunken driving arrest.

The Hartford Courant reported that head coach Randy Edsall decided to suspend Dixon for violating team rules and the paper said the junior was arrested early Tuesday morning by campus police.

Dixon, who was also suspended two games last season for violating team rules, was named a second-team All Big East running back in 2007, when he racked up 828 yards on 167 carries and 280 yards on 24 receptions, including four total touchdowns.

He has been used sparingly this year, accumulating only 37 yards on nine carries, mainly because of the emergence of Donald Brown as the nation's top runner

Connecticut hosts No. 23 Pittsburgh on Saturday in the final regular-season of the game for both teams.
