GAME NOTES: Mid-American Conference action will take place in the City of Brotherly Love, as the Temple Owls will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles have been dreadful this season and come into this matchup with eight losses, including four in a row. The last time EMU was on the field the team was pounded by Western Michigan, 31-10. The Eagles will close out their season next week at home against Central Michigan. As for the Owls, they have also struggled this year, losing seven of their 10 contests. The last time Temple took the field the team was defeated by Kent State, 41-38. The loss dropped the Owls' league ledger to 2-4 on the year. In terms of the all-time series between the two schools, the Owls have won all three matchups.

The Eagles have relied heavily on their ground game this season, as the team is rushing for 161.0 ypg, and out of the 25 touchdowns scored by EMU, 16 have come via the run. Overall the Eagles are producing 384.2 total ypg, but that has led to a mere 20.1 ppg. Terrence Blevins has been the main option out of the backfield for EMU, as the tailback has racked up 556 yards and 10 touchdowns. Dwayne Priest has also contributed to the ground attack, rushing for 464 yards and three scores. Unfortunately the passing attack has not enjoyed much success, as Andy Schmitt has thrown for just 1,644 yards and seven scores against seven interceptions. The last time EMU was on the field the team racked up 405 total yards, but still fell to Western Michigan by 21 points. Blevins paced the team on the ground with 52 yards and one score, while Priest also tallied 52 yards on 13 totes.

The success of the offense has been the downfall for the defense, as the Eagles are being abused by the run for 211.2 ypg, and out of the 41 touchdowns allowed by this unit, 24 have come on the ground. Overall this defense is surrendering 391.1 total ypg, and that has led to a whopping 32.0 ppg. EMU has also struggled to make big plays, forcing just 16 turnovers, while collecting only 13 sacks. In the recent setback to WMU, the defense was embarrassed for 502 total yards, but surprisingly it was the pass that did the Eagles in, as the Broncos threw for 339 yards and three scores. Jermaine Johnson led the way with 11 tackles, while Jacob Wyatt contributed nine stops.

The Owls have been dreadful offensively, as the team is totaling just 277.2 ypg and that has led to an equally poor 19.9 ppg. The majority of the success for Temple has come from the pass, as the Owls are torching opponents for 184.5 ypg, and out of the 23 touchdowns scored by Temple, 16 have come via the pass. Adam DiMichele has missed some time this year, but the quarterback has thrown for 1,321 and 12 scores against just four interceptions. Bruce Francis has been the main option down field as the wide out is leading the team with 34 receptions, 546 yards and nine touchdowns. The last time Temple was on the field the team collected 354 total yards, but once again the passing attack did most of the work as DiMichele threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns. Justin Harper was the main threat for DiMichele, as the wideout hauled in 10 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

Temple has does well defensively, but the strong efforts have been overlooked due to the team's ledger. The Owls are allowing 377.3 total ypg, but that has led to only 21.9 ppg. The one area of trouble has come against the run, as opponents are pounding Temple for 175.8 ypg, and out of the 27 touchdowns surrendered by the Owls, 17 have come on the ground. Surprisingly the Owls have forced 22 turnovers on the year, but have collected only 16 sacks. The team's struggles against the run continued in the Owls' recent loss to Kent State, as the front line was gashed for 329 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Temple was able to forced three turnovers in the contest, but allowed the Golden Flashes to convert on 7-of-8 red zone chances.

Temple only has three wins this year, but the team has played well in most of its matchups. The Owls should be able to return to the win column this weekend, as the team will look to torch EMU through the air.
