Superintendent Won't Allow Sex Article In Student Paper

POSTED: 6:30 pm EST February 23, 2006

The superintendent of Noblesville schools has decided that a high school newspaper cannot publish an article about oral sex.

The staff of Noblesville High School's student newspaper had wanted to publish an article on the repercussions of oral sex, but the school's principal held the article from the paper's Feb. 3 issue, saying a panel of educators and others needed to review it first.

The superintendent decided against the article, saying the topic is important but not an appropriate one for the newspaper.

Students involved with the article had said they wanted to publish something relevant to their peers and to address what they believed is teens' casual attitude about oral sex.
