November 6-Daddy Daughter Fall Ball: The Danville Park and Recreation Department invites dads and granddads to share a special evening with their youngest sweethearts. The park will host its 3rd annual Daddy Daughter Fall Ball on Friday, November 6, 2009. The Ball starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. Each daughter/granddaughter will receive a corsage. November 6-Charity Hog Roast: The Nordic Nationalists and Artistic Endeavors Tattoo Emporium has teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association from Indianapolis to host a two day charity event for two local teenage girls here in Anderson who are victims of Muscular Dystrophy. November 7-Family Fall Fest Lecture & Slammin’ Rhymes Challenge IV: Families and individuals of all ages are invited for an afternoon of inspiration and cultural entertainment when the African-American History Committee of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library presents the “Family Fall Fest” on Saturday, November 7 from 1 – 5 p.m. at Central Library in the Clowes Auditorium, 40 E. St. Clair Street. Highlighting the afternoon will be a lecture by Chef Jeff Henderson, star chef on the Food Network and author of Cooked: From the Streets to the Stove, From Cocaine to Foie Gras. While imprisoned for 10 years following conviction on cocaine dealing, Henderson discovered a culinary passion and became committed to turning his life around. He became Executive Chef of Café Bellagio in Las Vegas and started The Chef Jeff Project, in which he takes at-risk young adults and provides them the knowledge and skills to start a new life in the culinary arts. Henderson’s lecture is intended “to inspire, educate and motivate. the afternoon also will feature the Slammin Rhymes Poetry Challenge and awards presentation, performances by the Mt. November 7-Irvington Presbyterian Presents Broadway Show: Fellowship Hall at Irvington Presbyterian Church will be transformed into Broadway and 42nd Street for the show "On Broadway!" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 7 and 2 p.m. Sunday, November 8. November 8-Veterans Day Concert: The Indianapolis Municipal Band will provide a Veterans Day Concert on Sunday, November 8th at the Indiana State Museum at 3:00 p.m. This concert will honor our veterans and members of the armed forces for their work in securing this nation's freedom. The band will play marches from a number of composers, including John Philip Sousa. Lt. Col. Richard Shelton, USAF (retired) will be a featured guest conductor. The band is under the direction of Dr. Daniel P. Bolin. Dr. Bolin ia also Chair of the Music Department at Butler University. November 27-December 4-Santa's Arrival at Clay Terrace on "Black Friday”: Santa Claus, himself, will arrive at Clay Terrace on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving and the traditional kick-off to the holiday shopping season. The event starts at 8:15 a.m. and will be followed by a Santa Chase for kids at 9 a.m. Registration for the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is $22 /adult and $12/child on or before December 12th. Registration is $25/adult and $15/child the morning of the event. Each individual participant will receive a long sleeve t-shirt and jingle bells for their shoelaces. The first 1,000 adults to register will receive a technical tee. Team registration is $25 per person. All teams must sign up before December 4th. December 12-The PourHouse Pour: Patchwork and The Strange Brew announce the PourHouse Pour, an all day benefit for The PourHouse, Inc. On Saturday, December 12, 2009 The Strange Brew coffeehouse, located at 4800 W Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, Indiana, will host a free, all day musical benefit for The PourHouse, Inc. The PourHouse was created to generate opportunities to build relationships with the homeless population of greater Indianapolis.
