1986: Daniel Wayne Smith is born.

1987: Smith separates from Billy Wayne. She becomes a topless dancer at a strip club in Houston. She enters photos in a search contest.

1991: Smith meets oil mogul J. Howard Marshall at the club where she's performing.

1992: Smith appears on the cover of Playboy magazine.

1993: She's named Playmate of the Year.

1994: Smith marries Marshall, owner of Great Northern Oil Co. in Houston. She is 26; he is 89.

1995: Marshall dies at age 90. She is denied the right to his estate by Marshall's son, E. Pierce Marshall, who is now her stepson.

2002-2004: Smith gets her own reality television show on the E! Entertainment network, "The Anna Nicole Smith Show."

2003: Smith loses 69 pounds and becomes the spokeswoman for TrimSpa, an over-the-counter weight-loss drug.

June 2006: On her personal Web site, Smith tells the world she's pregnant but doesn't name the father. Her longtime lawyer Howard K. Stern, who appeared on her reality TV show, and an ex-boyfriend, photographer Larry Birkhead, both claim paternity.

June 20, 2006: Marshall's son dies at the age of 67, but the family indicates the court fight over the elder Marshall's money would continue.

Sept. 7, 2006: Smith gives birth to a daughter, Daniellyn, while in the Bahamas. The baby's birth certificate lists Stern as the baby's father.

Sept. 10, 2006: Smith's son, Daniel, 20, dies in his mother's hospital room. A coroner says three drugs interacted to cause the death.

Sept. 28, 2006: Smith and Stern exchange rings at an informal "commitment ceremony" on a ship in the Bahamas.

Feb. 8, 2007: Smith collapses at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., at 1:38 p.m. She is later pronounced dead at the age of 39.
