Simpson, Romo Married, Or Mom Joking?

Rumors Fly After Mom Says Singer, QB Were Hitched

POSTED: 2:42 pm EDT March 28, 2008

Several Internet gossips sites and blogs are buzzing over rumors that singer Jessica Simpson has secretly married Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Celebrity news site TMZ.com caught Simpson and her mom, Tina, leaving a Chili's restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday. On the video, Simpson was asked by a paparazzo when she and Romo were going to get married.

"They already are, what are you talking about?" responded Simpson's mom.

When a paparazzi replies, "You guys already married?" Simpson and her mother both laughed. Simpson then replied, "I guess, if mom says so."

Simpson was previously married to singer Nick Lachey. The couple divorced in 2006 after nearly four years of marriage.

The singer and the NFL star began dating last year. Simpson became a media target after she attended the Cowboys home game against Philadelphia in December, where Romo had one of the worst performances of his career in the Cowboys’ 10-6 loss.

Many fans and bloggers blamed Simpson for Romo’s poor performance, saying the pop star was a distraction to the star quarterback.

Romo took up Simpson's profession briefly in January when the couple sang with a heavy metal band onstage at a Los Angeles nightclub.
