JENNIFER LAWRENCE consulted a doctor in the hours before the Golden Globe Awards and was given an injection to make sure a nasty bout of influenza didn't ruin her big night.

The Hunger Games star triumphed at the prizegiving, winning the Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical trophy for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.

However, Lawrence admits her appearance at the show was thrown into doubt when she was struck down with flu and woke up on the morning of the ceremony with a fever, but was given the green light to attend by her doctor.

Speaking at the event, Lawrence tells Etonline.com, "It (my temperature) was 104 (degrees Fahrenheit) when I left (to come to the show). I'm fine. It's the flu... I had the doctor come over and give me a shot of something in my butt today and tell me I had the flu."
