John Mellencamp's son to receive alcohol treatment

JOHN MELLENCAMP's eldest son is to seek treatment for boozing following his arrest for underage drinking.

Hud Mellencamp, 20, was arrested in Indiana earlier this month (Jul14) after cops allegedly caught him consuming alcohol, and the incident sparked fears he could go to jail as he is currently out on bail fighting a felony battery charge.

The drinking case went to court in Bloomington, Indiana on Thursday (24Jul14) and a judge decided not to revoke Hud's bail after hearing he will be receiving alcohol treatment.

Defense lawyer Jennifer Lukemeyer also insisted Mellencamp's parents, the veteran rocker and his ex-wife Elaine Irwin, will be keeping Hud on a "tight leash" and are "taking this matter extremely seriously".

Mellencamp's other son Speck is also facing a felony battery charge along with his brother over allegations the pair beat up a teenager in Bloomington last July (14).
