MORRISSEY has scrapped the remainder of his North American tour so he can spend more time with his sick mother.

The Suedehead hitmaker postponed a series of dates at the beginning of the week (22Oct12) and jetted back to his native U.K. after his mom fell ill and was hospitalized.

He vowed to resume the tour in Minneapolis, Minnesota on 29 October (12), but Morrissey has now postponed the rest of the tour.

A statement from the singer's management reads: "All remaining dates on the current US Tour have been postponed - but not cancelled - as Morrissey has returned to England where his mother has been hospitalized and is unwell. Due to issues with his mother's health, Morrissey will need to remain by her side during this difficult period."

In total, the singer/songwriter has postponed 26 shows.
