Veteran rockers THE CURE closed out the Lollapalooza festival on Sunday night (04Aug13) by playing through their curfew.
The band took to the stage on the final night of the music event in Chicago, Illinois following sets over the weekend (03-03Aug13) from acts including The Killers, Mumford & Sons, Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age.
Robert Smith's group thrilled the crowd in Grant Park with a hits-packed set, and ended with a six-song encore which extended past the band's 10pm (local time) curfew.
The frontman told the crowd he was concerned organisers would cut them off during the last song of the show, 1979 anthem Boys Don't Cry, and he urged fans to keep on singing if the stage power was cut, saying, "We'll finish this very f**king excellent festival with some pop stuff... If they pull the plug on this song, you'll have to keep on singing."
