Indianapolis is among the fattest cities in the country, according to a magazine's study of fittest and fattest cities in the U.S.

The Circle City ranked 23rd fattest in the Men's Fitness survey. The magazine cited the nutrition of Indianapolis' residents as one of the primary reasons, along with a lack of a adequate parks and open spaces.

The city received good marks for its participation in athletics and access to health care, but was marked down for the number of residents who live sedentary lifestyles.

Indianapolis has improved its ranking, generally, over the years. In previous surveys, the city was among the top 15 fattest.

Miami ranked as the fattest city in the U.S., while Salt Lake City was named the fittest city.

It was the 11th year the magazine has surveyed the physical fitness of U.S. cities.
