INDIANAPOLIS -- There have been a total of 33 confirmed deaths in Indiana from the H1N1 flu, state health officials said.In a conference call on Wednesday, State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe said of the state's 35 flu deaths, 33 have been from complications related to H1N1, 6News' Stacia Matthews reported.More: H1N1 Special Section
She said of the hundreds of Hoosiers who have tested positive for H1N1, 47 percent have been college-age individuals.Because Indiana has received 1.22 million more doses of the H1N1 vaccine -- or enough to inoculate about 20 percent of the high-priority group -- health officials said they will begin to allocate more to universities.The overall number of Indiana residents hospitalized with flu symptoms fell 17 percent last week, health officials said.Monroe says Indiana's second wave of swine flu cases peaked in late October, likely coinciding when college students returning to the state's campuses for fall classes.
