Ever heard of it? I've been teaching it for almost two years, and it is my absolute favorite cardio class ever.
If you're tired of the same old routine -– the treadmill, the elliptical, the dreaded stairmaster -– then you need to try Turbokick. It comes from California, developed by Chalene Johnson of Powder Blue Productions, and it is the hottest cardio workout in Cali right now. Ask anyone THERE if they know what Turbokick ism -– they love it!Turbokick is cardio kickboxing, but it is not your average kickboxing class -– this is no Tae Bo. Turbokick begins with a dynamic warmup, and runs for about 45 minutes. It consists of punches, kicks, jumps, squats, and more that will have your whole body working. Then, at around the 30-minute mark -- you guessed it -– Turbo! Turbo is approximately 60 seconds in length and completely takes your heart rate to its' max.Turbo is followed by a recovery, to keep your body moving, but also bring your heart rate back down to an aerobic level. The 45 minute segment is finished with a really cool finale, and then you move into toning, stretching, and cool-down.
Turbokick has the absolute best music, which is formatted to fit the awesome choreography that comes with each different round. There are tons of rounds, and your instructor will take you through each one, spending about eight to 10 weeks on each. You start with the most basic choreography, and then continue to grow in the succeeding weeks. By the time you have finished your first round, you will be so familiar with Turbokick, that each new round after will be easier to learn -– but don't let that fool you into thinking you won't get as good a workout. :)So, Turbokick has the best music, the best choreography, and the best instructors (of course I had to add that!), so what more could you ask for?AND, you don't have to be in great shape to take the class. My current Turbokick class (through NIFS) carries about 30 people each week, and the age range is about 15 to 60 years old, and I am not exaggerating! Each person works at their own pace, for their own body, and we all have an awesome time at it.So don't think that you can't take a Turbokick class because you don't like high impact, or may not be in the best shape (yet!) Turbokick is for everyone. The next time you enter your gym for a little cardio, ask if they have Turbokick. If they look at you funny, tell them to get with it -– it's the hottest!Want more information? Take a peek at www.turbokick.com.
