BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Investigators say they're closer to identifying the vehicle they believe may have struck Indiana University student Jill Behrman two years ago.

FBI: Owner May Have Learned Of Truck's Involvement Afterward

FBI agent Gary Dunn said Friday that he's received information that the vehicle possibly involved in Behrman's disappearance might be an older pickup truck engaged in construction.

The truck's owner, Dunn said, "may have known after the fact that the pickup truck was used either in Jill's abduction or was involved in an accident or a wreck (involving Behrman)."

Behrman (pictured, right), 19 when she disappeared, was last seen riding her bike near Bloomington on May 31, 2000. Investigators suspect foul play.

Dunn called on the truck's owner to come forward, saying that he will not face criminal charges if he had nothing to do with Behrman's disappearance.

"We've ... received information that the owner would possibly be reluctant to come forward because that person is afraid of being charged with some crime," Dunn said.

The lone publicly named suspect in the case, Uriah Clouse, is being held at a Brown County jail on an unrelated charge. He also is charged in the attempted abduction of an Ellettsville woman.

Dunn previously has said investigators believe Clouse told people at a Bloomington nightclub details of Behrman's disappearance. Clouse has not been charged in the Behrman investigation.

Dunn's comments came at a news conference Friday afternoon during a community event marking the two-year anniversary of Behrman's disappearance.

Behrman's family and community members met at Bloomingfood's Market and Deli. Organizers distributed yellow ribbons for people to place throughout the city.

The ribbons are meant to be in remembrance of Behrman, and to keep her and her family in the public's mind, organizers said.
