Rain Cuts Time On Track For 500 Hopefuls
With Pole Day Looming, Indy 500 Drivers Anxious

INDIANAPOLIS -- Rain descended on Indianapolis Motor Speedway shortly after cars began circling the track on the first full day of preparations for the Indianapolis 500.Indy 500 qualifying hopefuls did get on the track for a short time until about 10 a.m., including three rookies.

Paul Tracy ripped off the fastest lap time on Tuesday, turning in a lap of 223.089 mph. Returning veteran Scott Sharp was next quickest, with a 221.878 mph lap.Competitors hope Wednesday's rain isn't a harbinger of things to come.
