Indy 500 qualifying hopefuls did get on the track for a short time until about 10 a.m., including three rookies.

Paul Tracy ripped off the fastest lap time on Tuesday, turning in a lap of 223.089 mph. Returning veteran Scott Sharp was next quickest, with a 221.878 mph lap.

Competitors hope Wednesday's rain isn't a harbinger of things to come. There isn't much time to get up to speed, with Pole Day set for Saturday.
