Dr. Dirt: Shopping for Christmas trees

Thanksgiving has come and gone and now it's full speed ahead to Christmas.

Cut Christmas tree lots are abundant, but sales are declining.

Sullivan Hardware has a new twist on cut trees and this should cause some excitement among the kids!
Select fresh-cut trees early and place the butt in a bucket of water until you're ready to bring the tree indoors and decorate.

Don't want to hassle with a fresh-cut tree? The artificial trees look just like the real thing without the mess.  And, don't forget: poinsettias are the No. 1 potted Christmas plant.  Be sure to cut a few holes in the pot wrap for proper drainage.

Merry Christmas, Dr.Dirt
