It was another great weekend for gardening.  Lawn weeds like chickweed and dandelions are still growing.  Take advantage of above-average forecast by using a broadleaf weed killer while the temperatures are above 50 degrees.

Garden centers are getting rid of what's left of spring flowering bulbs, just in time for planting.  Take advantage of the bulb bargains.  A couple of bulbs for indoor beauty are the amaryllis and paper whites.  It takes about five weeks after planting before flowering.

These two selections make great Christmas gifts. Tree leaves are on the ground and blowing around.  They make great mulch and compost. Now is a good time to make that final lawn fertilizer application.  Keep mowing the lawn as long as the grass continues to grow.

Select fresh cut Christmas trees, recut the butt and place it in a bucket of water until you are ready to bring the tree indoors and decorate.  The water keeps the tree fresh.
