INDIANAPOLIS – The Flying Cupcake, a bakery that began operating in the Broad Ripple community 10 years ago, will open a new location in Zionsville in the summer of 2017.

It will be the bakery’s seventh location.

While owner Kate Bova Drury plans to continue offering giant cupcakes and other baked goods, customers will also have the option of purchasing beer and wine at the Zionsville shop.

Drury said between 20,000 and 25,000 cupcakes are made within one week between all of the bakery's locations.

Over the past 10 years, 80 cupcake flavors have been created, and the bakery continues to make more based on customer recommendations.

Additionally, if you’re looking for vegan or gluten-free cupcakes, they can be found find at the Broad Ripple location.

A few weeks ago, The Flying Cupcake launched a delivery service where the customer’s cupcake is placed into a jar – because they don’t use preservatives – and shipped.

The Flying Cupcake prides itself on being “locally baked” and independently owned.
