DETROIT -
You've heard the "Say No to Drugs" campaign. Well now there's an initiative being started called "Say No to Pop" or soda.
A hospital in Detroit is asking its staff to sign a pledge that for the month of November they won't drink soda.
Instead they're offering fruit-infused water or bottled water at a discount.
The president of the hospital compares drinking one can of soda a day to smoking cigarettes.
“Drinking soda pop is directly linked to...namely heart attacks, stroke and cancer, he said.
Detroit Public Schools are also signing on to the "Say No to Pop" pledge, and are no longer offering soda.
Instead, stacks of bottled water can be found in the cafeteria.
