Woman hopes to workout for 100 days

One woman is making her private struggle with weight loss public in hopes of inspiring others to live healthier lifestyles.

LaKeisha Shum said her motivation was fueled by a need to end her ongoing depression.

"I have low self-esteem…and I want to change all of that," she said.

The San Francisco resident uploaded a video to a blog called giveit100.org where people are urged to practice something for 100 days.

"Next hundred days I will be on the journey of losing weight and finding myself," Shurn said in the video.

Through YouTube uploads, Shurn documented her fitness journey with moments of triumph as well as moments of heartfelt emotion.

In 100 days, Shum lost 18 pounds and appeared to gain an improved sense of self-worth.
