INDIANAPOLIS -- Each month, RTV6 honors those giving back to the community with the prestigious Jefferson Award.

May's award winners were Tracey and Reginald Jones.

The long-time McDonald's owner-operators wanted to find a way to give back to their community.

They created a program to honor one special woman in their lives.

"It was an idea when Tracey and myself moved to town. We bought some restaurants from Ms. Elizabeth Henry. She had three daughters that she was raising and she was a widow, and at the same time she was running some tough inner-city McDonald's," said Reginald.

Tracey and Reginald started by giving away two bikes. That was 20 years ago.

Now they give out hundreds of bikes each year at the Indiana State Fairgrounds along 38th street.

They call it "McMiracle on 38th Street."

"It's a great blessing from God to have an opportunity to be part of the community and to give back," said Tracey.
