Indianapolis St. Patrick's Day events: Plan your day

INDIANAPOLIS -- If you're looking to finalize your St. Patrick's Day plans, look no further. There is no shortage of events happening Friday to keep you and your friends full of food and drink.

10 a.m.-3p.m.: Children's Scavenger hunt: Bring the kids along to the annual scavenger hunt at the City Market. There will also be an art project, face painting and green beads. Admission is free.

11 a.m.: Mo's Irish Pub Bash: If you're in Hamilton County, you might want to visit Mo's Irish Pub this Friday or Saturday. Guests will begin with "kegs and eggs and green beer, with live music. Get a one-day pass for $10 or a two-day pass for $15.

11 a.m.:Blarney Bash: On the east block of Georgia Street, you and thousands of others (organizers say) will enjoy the day with green Coors Lights, food and music from The Late Show, The Doo and My Yellow Rickshaw. Tickets are $5 in advance or $10 the day of the event.

11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.: St. Patrick's Day Parade: The 37th-annual parade will have bands, floats, Catholic schools, Irish dancers, bagpipe and drum bands and Irish organizations. There will also be a festival from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Vermont Street in the middle of the parade route.

Noon-11 p.m.: Golden Ace Inn party: Admission for the bash costs $5, but you'll get into the event that runs pretty much all day. Food and drinks will be available, highlighted by corned beef sandwiches and Irish beers. The venue promises authenticity -- no green beers. Three different Irish acts will perform at the event:

  • 12:30: Eunan McIntyre
  • 2:30: Legacy
  • 6:30: JigJam

Noon-Midnight: Downtown Irish Fest: Enjoy live music and eat authentic Irish food with no cover charge at the 20th annual Downtown Irish Fest at the Rathskeller at the Athenaeum. The music schedule is as follows:

  • Noon - 4 p.m.: Brian Cunningham & the Irish Aires
  • 4:15 p.m.: Irish Dancers of Indianapolis
  • 5 p.m.: Gordon Pipers
  • 6 - 8:30 p.m.: Woomblies
  • 9 p.m. - midnight: Zanna Doo

3 p.m.-7 p.m.: ACLU of Indiana St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl: $10 gets you to the bar crawl in Fountain Square. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the ACLU. Have refreshments and drink specials at:
