Oakland, CA -- (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics claimed pitcher Lenny DiNardo off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday

The 27-year-old lefty finished with a 1-2 record and a 7.85 earned run average in 13 games (six starts) with Boston last year. In May, DiNardo was placed on the 15-day disabled list and missed 92 games due to a neck injury before being reinstated on August 31.

DiNardo also pitched for the Red Sox in 2004 and 2005 and compiled a 1-3 record with a 5.53 ERA in 43 appearances.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Oakland designated outfielder Hiram Bocachica for assignment.
