Flushing, NY -- Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Carlos Beltran hit a two-run home run and an RBI double, and the New York Mets downed the Cincinnati Reds, 8-3, in the rubber match at Shea Stadium. Oliver Perez (3-3) went six innings, holding the Reds to three runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and four walks. Jose Reyes went 3-for-5 and scored twice, and Ryan Church followed Beltran's home run in the fifth with one of his own for the Mets, who have won three of four. Rookie Johnny Cueto (2-4) continued to struggle to regain the form from his first two starts. Cueto, who fanned 18 and allowed just three runs over his first 13 1/3 innings in the majors, gave up eight hits and six runs in 4 2/3 innings, fanning five and walking three. Hardy went 3-for-4 with a run batted in for Milwaukee, which has won two of three on the heels of a six-game skid. Corey Hart was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Braden Looper (5-2) gave up four runs on seven hits over six innings to absorb the loss. Ryan Ludwick clubbed his eighth home run of the season for the Cardinals, who have dropped four of their last five games. Chris Duncan and Troy Glaus both went 2-for-3 at the plate, with Duncan driving in a run. The start of game was delayed for 58 minutes due to rain, and both scheduled starters, Randy Johnson and Carlos Zambrano, were scratched before the game due to the weather. Edgar Gonzalez started for Arizona, while Sean Gallagher got the call for the Cubs. Reed Johnson hit a two-run home run for the Cubs, winners in four of their last five. Derrek Lee belted a solo shot, while Kosuke Fukudome went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Carlos Marmol (1-0) earned the win as four Chicago relievers combined for 4 2/3 shutout innings, with Kerry Wood picking up his seventh save. Atlanta at Pittsburgh, postponed Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Sunday's game between the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates was postponed due to rain.
