Rangers Put Hurley On DL

POSTED: 1:57 am EDT July 9, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers placed pitcher Eric Hurley on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday due to a strained left hamstring.

The 22-year-old Hurley felt tightness when running in the outfield before Friday's 10-4 loss at Baltimore. The rookie righty is 1-1 with a 3.57 earned run average in four starts this season.

The Rangers replaced Hurley on the roster with lefty Matt Harrison, who was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma to start Tuesday against the Angels. Harrison has gone a combined 6-3 with a 3.43 ERA in 15 starts for Double-A Frisco and Oklahoma this season.

Harrison allowed five hits and two runs, while logging a walk and a strikeout over seven innings and recorded the victory as the Rangers held on for a 3-2 triumph.
