Man Finds 7-Inch Knife In Sub

Subway Sued For Baked Knife

This Subway sandwich came with all the toppings--and some extras.

A Queens, N.Y. man is suing his local Subway restaurant for $1 million after he discovered a 7-inch blade inside his sandwich.

John Agnesini, 27, the design director at HX magazine, glanced down at his lunch two weeks ago and saw it sticking out of the other half.

"It's shocking. You see this metal knife. I mean, it's one thing seeing a hair or something," Agnesini told the New York Post. "If I didn't look at it, could you imagine what would happen? I could've slashed the side of my mouth."

He told CBS station WCBS-TV that he did not bite into the knife's blade and wasn't cut, but a few hours later he felt sick to his stomach and went to the doctor.

A doctor told him he had the symptoms of food poisoning, which Agnesini attributed to whatever contaminants may have seeped into his food, possibly from the melted plastic handle of the knife, reported the New York Post.

He also said the knife was "filthy."

Subway spokesman would not discuss the June 27 incident.

"At Subway restaurants, we take food safety and customer comments very seriously. We are aware of the complaint made and are investigating the facts. As a pending legal matter, we cannot discuss this matter further," spokesman Kevin Kane told the New York Post.

Agnesini is not the only one who has found a knife in a Subway sandwich, however.

The New York Post reported that Lauren Goldman, 22, of Manhattan, said she, too, discovered a knife in her sandwich two years ago.

After reading about Agnesini, she came forward and said she cut her lip on the blade and settled with Subway's insurance company for $2,500.

Agnesini is still wondering how this could have happened--again.

"The sandwich slid down the counter with four other people handling it. Nobody noticed? It's a seven-inch knife in a six-inch sub. How do you not see it?" he told WCBS-TV.
