Police in Fort Pierce, Fla., said a man used his karate skills to fight off a group of robbers, West Palm Beach television station WPBF reported.

According to the incident report, Jean Robert Louimar, 44, said he was approached by four young men who grabbed his coat. Louimar told them to leave him alone and when they wouldn't, he knocked two of the men to the ground with what he called "karate chops."

Louimar said another man in the group put a large gun to his head and demanded money. Louimar told the man he was a karate expert and, according to the report, proceeded to use his karate skills to make the man drop the gun.

Police said one of the men picked up the gun before they all ran off.

Louimar told police the men "could not compete with his karate."

Louimar said he learned karate in Haiti where he grew up.
