Job Skills Training Courses In High Demand
Nonprofit Organization Offers Training Courses

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis nonprofit organization providing job skills training has seen a swell in enrollment with more Hoosiers looking for work.Training, Inc. is part of a national network of training facilities that offer courses on everything from computer basics to interview skills and office etiquette, 6News' Ericka Flye reported.The organization has been around for more than 20 years, but the economic downturn has meant more unemployed looking for new skills to get back in the work force.
"They can take this opportunity and to get some additional job skills and come more competitive in the workplace," said Executive Director Peggy Frame.The instructors at Training, Inc., located at 333 N. Pennsylvania St., try to simulate the workplace. Trainees clock in at 8:30 a.m. and are expected to dress professionally. If they don't have the clothes, they can sort through donated duds.Rodriguez Payne is training for a new career, but also keeping an eye on the growing competition."The unemployment (rate), I watch that just as close as the government now," he said. "I just think, 'Yeah, that's many more thousands of people I'm about to be competing with in the job market.'"Frame said the program has a job placement rate of 90 percent.More Information: Training, Inc.
