INDIANAPOLIS -- As many Indiana business leaders look forward to the end of 2009, there are some signs that 2010 could have a much different job growth outlook.Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce Vice President of Communications Joel Reuter said many of the organization's 4,000 members are optimistic, if not cautiously, about the year ahead.Recent projections show that the fields of advanced manufacturing, life sciences and information technology show promise, 6News' Renee Jameson reported.
"Information technology is one of those industries that we as a people in the Midwest think west coast, east coast, but Indianapolis and Indiana are home to 2,000 companies, and with that, you're seeing a lot more in those areas," Reuter said. The new Wishard Memorial Hospital project will also bring 315 new jobs next year as work on a new parking garage and demolition get under way, and there will be positions available for the upcoming 2012 Super Bowl."We're looking forward to the Super Bowl. Many people think that's a start of a beginning. It's actually beginning now and ramping up for the Super Bowl, and that's all exciting for the city of Indianapolis," Reuter said. The annual Global Employment Outlook Survey conducted by Manpower Inc. is due out next week, and it is expected to show signs of job growth."(We'll see growth in) manufacturing areas, a lot of non-durable goods, the food industry," said Indianapolis Manpower branch manager Chalise Klecz. "Those are different areas that we're assisting with right now."Klecz said it's crucial for job candidates to have a good resume ready to go and to brush up on their interview skills.More Information: 2012 Super Bowl Jobs
