RECALL: 91K pounds of Eckrich breakfast sausage recalled

INDIANAPOLIS -- Nearly 91,000 pounds of Eckrich sausage is being recalled due to a possibility of metal contamination. 

The affected product is Eckrich Smok-y Cheddar Breakfast Sausage with a UPC number of "27815 17984" and a Use By date of 08/17/17. They were shipped to distribution centers in Indiana, among other states.

This product was not sold to retail stores, so it could not be purchased by consumers. 

Eckrich was notified on May 15 that pieces of metal were embedded in a product. 

There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consuming the sausage.
