Pacers Kick Off Homestand By Hosting Wizards

(Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers hope to make it two straight wins when they commence a three-game homestand Friday night versus the Washington Wizards at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Indiana had lost its first three games of the 2009-10 campaign before recording a 101-89 victory against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday. Danny Granger led five starters in double figures with 21 points and Dahntay Jones contributed 19 points and 12 rebounds for Indiana, which got 15 points and 14 rebounds from Roy Hibbert.

"(The first win) is the hardest one to get," Granger said. "Especially when you drop two or three. You're feeling bad about the team, and you haven't tasted the win in your mouth yet. Once you get the taste, you want more."

Brandon Rush added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and T.J. Ford ended with 16 points in the win.

The Pacers will also host Golden State and Boston on the residency. Forward Troy Murphy is doubtful for Friday with a bruised lower back.

Washington has lost consecutive contests since winning two of its first three games of the season. In Wednesday's 93-89 setback versus the Miami Heat at the Verizon Center, Gilbert Arenas led the losers with 32 points and Brendan Haywood added 16 points and 11 rebounds in defeat. Arenas is averaging 27.6 points and 5.6 assists

Caron Butler recorded a double-double as well with 13 points and 10 boards for the Wizards, who will try to a two-game road losing streak tonight.

"The game was never over until the buzzer went off," Butler said. "We got a couple guys on this side that can hit big shots and do big things. It was just one of those things, we'll take it on the chin."

Forward Mike Miller sprained his left shoulder in the fourth quarter and is expected to miss seven to 10 days.

Indiana took two of three encounters with Washington last season, while these clubs have split the previous 26 matchups. The Wizards are winless in their past three visits to Conseco Fieldhouse.
