Woman Involved In Frantic 911 Call Found Safe

POSTED: 5:45 pm EST November 19, 2006

Police said Sunday that a woman who made a frantic 911 call Friday from a payphone in an eastern Putnam County community has been located, and is safe.

Putnam County Sheriff Mark Frisbie told 6News that the woman was involved in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend. The boyfriend was jailed on unrelated charges in another county.

A friend or family member convinced the woman to come forward after seeing her story on the news.

Authorities had launched a search after the call was received from the Heritage Lake community clubhouse several miles east of Greencastle.

Sounding out of breath, the woman indicated that someone -- identifying him only as "he" -- was in her car and about to run her over.

Further information was not immediately available, but Frisbie expected to release the woman's name and additional details on Monday.
