'Pit Crew' Hopes To Find Attacker After Brutal Puppy Stabbing

Members of a pit bull rescue group are helping police in their effort to catch the person who brutally stabbed a pit bull puppy and left her for dead.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported.

'Pit Crew' Hopes To Nab Puppy's Attacker

The dog was found near the clubhouse of the Westminster apartment complex on County Line Road, just west of U.S. 31 near the Johnson County line.

Members of "Indy Pit Crew," a pit bull advocacy group, said they think the attack happened sometime during the day on Thursday. Members of the group printed flyers in hopes that anyone who knows something about what happened will come forward.

The puppy is recovering days after the attack. She was found bleeding and near death behind some bushes at the apartment complex. The puppy had been stabbed six times and her throat had been slashed.

"It seems, from the way the vet described the wounds, that there may have been two people that did it," said Laura Gonzo of Indy Pit Crew. "Most of the stab wounds are on one side. So, we think the dog may have been held down by one person while another person was stabbing it repeatedly."

Volunteers posted the flyers in the area and talked with residents to see if anyone had seen anything suspicious.

LeeAnn Robertson doesn't belong to Indy Pit Crew, but said she was motivated to help after seeing a story about the dog on the news. Robertson said she hopes the $1,000 reward now being offered will get the case solved.

"Somebody will need the money for Christmas and call. Somebody will give us a good lead. We can find who did this. This has got to stop," Robertson said.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and still qualify for the $1,000 reward. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 317-262-TIPS.
