July 2-Naturalization Ceremony at the President Benjamin Harrison Home: The south lawn of the President Benjamin Harrison Home will be the site of the summer naturalization ceremony for people who have qualified for United States citizenship. July 3-Cagney @ WUG’s: Local Artist Grabs Indianapolis Art Scene By the Horns with Solo Show at Wug Laku's Studio & Garage Gallery Up-and-Coming artist Cagney King will unveil her paintings to the Indianapolis art community July 3 in a solo show entitled, "Cagney @ Wug's." The show will be featured during Indianapolis' First Friday Art Event at Wug Laku's Studio & Garage Gallery from 6pm to 9pm. The Gallery is located at the Circle Center Industrial Complex, 1125 Brookside Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46202. King will display popular pieces recently featured in Issue #6 of the London-based on-line magazine NewSugar and introduce several new works. King's paintings encompass a wide range of media, and take the viewer on a journey of abstract and contemporary expression through textures and loose palettes. King’s show will run through July 31st. July 6-BackPack Attack Kick Off: The BackPack Attack Kick Off event is on July 6 between 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at The Children's Museum, 3000 N. Meridian St. You will receive your school supply collection bins, posters, and t-shirt at this event. The BackPack Attack is an annual school supply drive collecting supplies for more than 20,000 IPS students in need. Now through October 25-Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs: Over 130 treasures from the tomb of King Tut and other important rulers from 2,000 years of ancient Egyptian history will be on exhibit at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. This blockbuster exhibit will feature the largest image of King Tut ever found — a 10-foot statue that may have originally stood at his mortuary temple and retains much of its original paint, one of four gold and precious-stone-inlaid canopic jars and CT scans of Tut’s mummy. Many of these artifacts have never visited the United States. Besides artifacts related to Tutankhamun, the exhibit will focus on the splendor of the Egyptian pharaohs, their function in the earthly and divine worlds, and what kingship meant to the Egyptian people. The exhibition is organized by National Geographic, Arts and Exhibitions International and AEG Exhibitions, with cooperation from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities. Northern Trust is the proud cultural partner of the tour, and American Airlines is the official airline.
